Introduction
Customers across Canada can place orders with us via telephone, fax or email. Our minimum order for shipping live plants is $25.00. Books and seeds are not subject to a minimum order. Starting November 2008, we will offer winter shipping for live plants. Winter shipments will require the inclusion of a heat pack for a nominal fee. We respectfully ask that, if possible, you avoid placing phone orders on Saturdays & Sundays during our busy retail months of April to June (weekdays are fine). Emailed orders can be sent anytime, but we recommend that you do not include your credit card information in your email. Emailed orders will receive confirmation from us via email; you will then need to supply us with your credit card information by telephone or fax before your order is shipped. Please take a moment to read the information below prior to placing an order, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Availability & Confirmation
Our plant selection varies throughout the year; we therefore recommend that you begin by emailing your order to us. This will enable us to confirm availability (via email) of your requested plants and allow you to make substitutions if a variety is out of stock. Once you have received confirmation from us, you will need to provide us with your credit card information by phone or fax; we will then prepare your order for shipping. If you choose to place your order by telephone, we can often confirm availability immediately, unless the nursery is busy with local customers.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel your order for any reason, please ensure that you contact us before your order is packed and shipped. Orders destined for provinces other than British Columbia are shipped out on Mondays & Tuesdays. If you have confirmed your order by supplying us with your credit card information, please inform us no later than Sunday if you wish to cancel the shipment.
Payment
Option # 1: Payment by either VISA or MASTERCARD is the fastest and most convenient method to complete your order. The cost of your plants will be charged to your credit card on the day that the order is shipped out. The postage cost will be charged to your credit card as a second transaction after your order has been delivered to Canada Post or picked up by the courier. This method ensures that you are only charged the actual shipping cost for your plants.
Option # 2: We can also accept payment by money order or bank draft, but we require  payment in advance before shipping the order. You will first need to provide us with your postal code and the list of plants which you are interested in. This can be done by phone, fax, or email. We will then estimate your shipping cost using the Canada Post online shipping calculator and inform you via email (or fax if you prefer) of the total cost of your order including postage and taxes. If you wish to proceed with the order, you will need to mail us a copy of your order with payment and please remember to include your name, address & phone number. Your order will be shipped out when we receive your letter. Residents of British Columbia will be charged PST and GST, residents of other provinces will be charged GST only.
Packing
All plants are taken out of their pots and packed bareroot prior to shipping. This method lowers the shipping cost, reduces the risk of damage to the plant, and avoids soiling the plant with spilled potting media during transit. We charge $5.00 per box for preparation & packing. There will be an additional small charge for winter shipping (November - March) to cover the cost of the heat pack. We are able to pack most retail orders into one box. The stems of tall plants such as bananas, gingers and Heliconia are cut back to approximately 30 cm (12 inches) above the corm or rhizome. The cut stem will continue to grow when repotted and the rhizome will also produce new shoots.
Shipping
We ship retail orders via Canada Post. Canada Post offers four types of parcel delivery service, the difference is in the speed of delivery. You can specify the type of parcel delivery you prefer, or we can choose for you. Our standard shipping guide is as follows:

Service

Speed: (a) regionally (b) nationally

Material

Xpresspost

(a) 1 day        (b) 2 days

Live Plants (i.e. orchids)

Expedited Parcel

(a) 1 - 3 days (b) 2 - 7 days

Rhizomes (i.e. canna)

Regular Parcel

(a) 4 - 6 days (b) 5 - 10 days Books, Seeds

The shipping times provided by Canada Post in the above table are estimates in business days for delivery service between major Canadian cities. Rural deliveries may take longer. We ship orders on Mondays & Tuesdays; our customers usually receive their orders on or before Friday of the same week.
Canada Post also offers a Priority Courier service, but we feel that the speed & expense of this service is not necessary for shipping live plants, unless there are other factors involved, i.e.: the need for a 'last minute' gift.
Tip: Rhizomes, tubers, and corms can also be sent by Regular Parcel Post from spring until early fall. If you are not in a hurry to receive your goods, or you are placing a large order for plant material of this type, Regular Parcel is an economical way to ship. If you would like us to ship your rhizomes via Regular Parcel, please ensure that you mention this option when placing your order.
Shipping Estimates: During our busy spring/early summer season, it is difficult for us to provide shipping estimates for orders. However, Canada Post provides a simple online shipping calculator on their website:  http://www.canadapost.ca/personal/tools/rc/res/bin/rc_res-e.asp
You can also find this link by visiting the Canada Post website at www.canadapost.ca  and clicking the 'On-line Tools' option. You will need to enter our postal code: V6W 1E8 and a parcel size (dimensions and weight) when calculating a shipping estimate. A parcel size of 30 cm length by 15 cm width by 15 cm height, weighing 2 kg, is a convenient measure when calculating an approximate shipping charge for a medium-sized order. You can also use this method to compare the difference in cost for the various types of parcel service. An order consisting of smaller plants such as orchids or Venus Flytraps would be substantially less in size and weight than the above example.
Tracking
We will email you the tracking number for your parcel after your order is shipped out. You will then be able to track the progress of your parcel by visiting the website of Canada Post at www.canadapost.ca . Courier companies also provide this service.
Preparation & Planting
We recommend that you prepare for the arrival of your plants by ensuring that you have the applicable potting media and pots on hand. You will find cultivation information in our Articles pages; there is a link to this section on our home page. You can also email us if you have questions. Epiphytic plants such as Orchid and Tillandsia species will appreciate misting with water immediately after unpacking. Potted plants should be placed in a pot sized according to the diameter of the root ball. There should be approximately a 1" space between the root ball and the wall of the pot prior to adding the media. Almost all plants resent being over-potted, i.e.: planting in a pot much larger than the root ball, as this situation can lead to rotting of the root ball. The pot should also have plenty of drainage holes in order to avoid water-logged roots, a common cause of root rot.  Aquatic and bog plants are different in this respect, as these plants prefer to have their roots constantly damp.
Guarantee
We guarantee safe arrival of live plant material during our shipping season of April 01 through to October 31. Any shipping damage must be reported to us ASAP, we will then place a claim with Canada Post. You may be contacted by a Canada Post representative who will ask for details regarding the damage. If Canada Post accepts responsibility for the damage, we will ship out a replacement order at no cost. We cannot guarantee safe arrival of live plants during the winter months of November to March, but we are willing to ship out orders at the customer's risk.
Many of the plants we feature have specific needs in regards to light levels, temperature, humidity, potting media and watering. We have no control over these environmental factors once the plants have left our nursery. We are therefore unable to guarantee your success in growing our plants. However, customer relations are important to us and we would like to hear from you if you are dissatisfied for any reason with our plants or service. And we would also like to hear from you if you are happy with your purchase. Operating a nursery is hard work, but satisfied customers help to make it a rewarding endeavor.
Wholesale
We offer wholesale pricing on Nymphaea (water lily) rhizomes, floating aquatic plants, carnivorous plants, and Tillandsia (air plants) to other retail and wholesale businesses. Minimum quantities apply, please contact us if you would like to receive our wholesale price lists. At our discretion, we may require proof of business registration before providing our wholesale price lists.
USA & International Orders
At present, we do not ship plants outside of Canada except for propagation or trading purposes. Many of the species we grow are available from nurseries within the USA and we are happy to refer USA residents to a domestic source, if your Google search is unproductive. For carnivorous plants, check out: www.cobraplant.com
